Advanced Microencapsulation Technology
The second platform technology acquired by NuVue consists of patented methods for producing miniaturized, multi-layered polymeric microcapsules with inherently robust biologics (similar to a miniaturized water balloon, only 5 to 50 microns in size), capable of delivering diagnostic and therapeutic agents in the body.
With thirteen issued patents, this technology originally was developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under the leadership of Dr. Dennis Morrison with the goal of preserving drugs and other compounds for use by our astronauts in long-term space flight.
In 2003, the Company acquired an exclusive, world-wide license for the use of these technologies in the biological and chemotherapeutic medical arena.
The Company’s microencapsulation technologies can be applied in the site-specific BrightMark™ tissue site markers, while also allowing for the administration and delivery of multiple drugs during the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of soft tissue cancers and other medical conditions.
